Every day this week was blistering hot, but the games went on. This category has photos of the daily sport events, Bible trivia, rap sessions, etc. This year, Sis. Cozy made it a little easier for the teams on their Bible verses for memory points. Instead of making it 13+ verses, she made it a whole chapter, but it was only 2 verses; however, more people on the team had to memorize the verses for team points. The scripture was taken from Psalms 117:
It was really neat to hear the children whine that they couldn't do it, but after some practice and time, they were able to recite the verses perfectly. All of them made me proud. One of the events that was revitalized was the Thursday field days. Thanks to Bro. Michael Jordan, he choreographed the events that used to be played in years past...3-legged sack race, egg toss, bat relay, etc. It was great to actually get to see and participate in the events that I had only seen on VHS tapes of previous youth camps. And oh yes...how could we forget the grand finale. Water balloon war!!! The mufferless, red Ford Ranger made its way back to camp loaded with water balloons that were prepared Wednesday night. The kids rushed the truck and seized the balloons...the camp was under their control for at least 7 minutes. I stayed back in a dry place to get pictures of the wet chaos. So, which team won? Team 5, led by Sis. Carrie Bowman, took home the trophies. I found out afterwards that Nathan Wright has been on a winning team 4 out of 6 years. We need to handicap him next year by tieing one of his arms and legs behind his back to make things fair. There are more pictures that will be added to this category throughout the next couple of weeks. Be sure to check for new pics at a later date. |
